    (1) A self-taught photographer, gordon Parks grew up in south Fork, Kansas. (2) after winning a rosenwald Fellowship, a series of pictures about life in Chicago's Slums, He obtained his first photography job from the Farm Security Administration in Washington, D.C.     (6) turning to a career in the movie industry in 1968, he moved to Hollywood, where his son Gordon Parks jr., took a picture of him directing the film the Learning Tree. (7) Working from his piano at his apartment, he wrote the films screenplay and musical score. (8) He wrote and directed other projects, including leadbelly, the story of the Blues Legend Huddie ledbetter.
