HW? Nope. We will pick up tomorrow wherever we leave off today.
Below are two example paragraphs from our last assignment. Check the structure of each paragraph by copying it into Notability and color coding the sentences. Are there any missing elements of the TIED structure? How can the wording be improved to be more academic and concise?
I think they are guilty of killing Simon because they didn't give him a chance to tell everyone the beastie was not real and it was just a parachuter. The chant is no longer a joke, but a confession. In chapter 9 Simon’s death was a tragedy, but the boys being the cause of his death was even more tragic. In chapter 9, sadly, Simon’s life is taken by the rippling currents of the frosty sea. The chant "Kill the beast! Cut his throat! Spill his blood!” (Pg.218) Is the sad chant that didn't give Simon his chance for life. "The parachute took the figure forward, furrowing the lagoon, and bumped it over the reef and out to sea." (Pg.220) Simon spent his last breath trying to make the boys aware of the truth about the beastie. He had no luck. If the boys would have just listened to Simon's cry for silence, they would have found out that the scary beastie, is not anything but a myth.
The power is shifting towards Jack slowly but surely.
"They didn’t take the conch.” “I know. They didn’t come for the conch.
They came for something else.(242)" The boys realize that Jack will do
anything to get power, and he's gunna find a way even if it means murder.
"..then he and what seemed like a dozen others were rolling over and over,
hitting, biting, scratching. He was torn and jolted, found fingers in his mouth
and bit them.(240)" Jack is getting very violent along with his hunters
and outer group members. Both piggy and Ralph realize that they are in a
dangerous situation, and Ralph is getting scared, giving Jack even more reason
to keep fighting for his power.
